★The Major Rivers of India are important to the country’s overall
development.
They provide drinking water, irrigation for crops, and means of
transportation.
The Indian river system can be broadly classified into-
1.Perennial River System or Himalayan River System
•The rivers of the Himalayas are an important part of life in the

2. Non perennial river system or Peninsular River system
